This week, the theme of the CHAMP after school program, is "Heroes." According to Janice Meyer, the director of CHAMP, "students will take part in activities based around their favorite super heroes, but also get the opportunity to speak about, write to, or tell stories about real-life heroes they have!" This is an interesting theme that I think students will really enjoy. Not only can they talk about Superman and Batman, but they also can talk about their parents or their teacher. The theme allows students to find examples to live by. Positive role models and exposure to a variety of these positive role models can really help a child define who they want to become, in a healthy and positive way.
